Qantas goes “mad” and Mt.Kosiosko

Last week I had a few comments about the amount of packaging and recycling, so I did my bit this week by NOT using the recycling bag and out everything in the used cup.  I had to laugh, the guy sitting in the row in front of me asked for a beer and had to pay $6 for the privilege.  In a very Virgin manner, that also asked for correct change!  As I was on a $838.00 fare this week – the cheapest I could find return MEL – CBR – MEL – I felt they should be giving us NV Lafite Rothschild – see price guide! http://www.wine-searcher.com/find/lafite+rothschild

On a lighter note the view of Mount Kosciuszko was fabulous.  It was sitting in a gap between the clouds and still has a decent snow coverage.  I know why, it was 1 in Canberra on Wednesday morning!

Qantas goes Guinness and Aboriginal translations

Well what a week. The TWU strikes were on and then off but no matter, Qantas struggled on.   And oddly enough all ran smoothly.

I am on the 3PM flight thus week and a meal was not on the menu but a snack was. What we did get was the Qantas entry for the Guinness Book of Records Viennese Éclair.  It got me thinking about that magical 1984 movie Ghost Busters with Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Sigourney Weaver and Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, I can feel seat fever coming on and it in only a 1:20 minute flight!

On another interesting topic, I did some research this week into Aboriginal names in corporate Australia and found that the literal translation for Qantas in ALL ancient Aboriginal dialects is “late or delayed”.  Well they got right!

Home at last and I look forward to next week’s adventure. And the upside is only 11 weeks remaining in Canberra this year before Christmas holiday shutdown.

Stay tuned,

D

This weeks $496 Qantas meal

Well, Qantas have been busy in the catering department. It would appear that they have found a use for the Halal Salsa from last week but the quantity of food is slipping back again, 5 wafers this time.

The beverage of choice was the St. Hallett Shiraz Grenache. I wonder if Dan Murphy also has it on special?

The best part this week is the promo line on the box “Take you pleasure seriously” and for those who are interested,  you can become a fan of Charlie’s Cookies on Facebook

I wonder what delights will greet me next week?

Qantas CBR – MEL $496 meal

This weeks special, and I must say they have been very generous in comparison to the previous weeks on the volume front!

Hand full of nibble mix, 2 shortbread cookies (I thought USA!) a few crispbread wafers and some tomato salsa (halal). I am a little unsure what the halal salsa is for!

And a complementary beer, wine or soft drink……
